Have you experienced a Misdiagnosis or a Failure to Diagnose accurately?

We place considerable trust in healthcare professionals. Accurate diagnosis depends on the interpretation of presented symptoms and test results. Occasionally healthcare professionals fail to diagnose or give the wrong diagnosis. Misdiagnosis can happen in a wide range of circumstances. The most commonly reported to Malcomson Law are:

4 Misdiagnosis Medical Negligence Claim

Diagnosis of suffering from a particular condition that you do not have

Misdiagnosis of cancer

Failure to diagnosis cancer

Delay in cancer diagnosis

Misdiagnosis of meningitis

Misdiagnosis of head injuries

Misdiagnosis of heart conditions

Misdiagnosis of internal bleeding

Misdiagnosis of broken or fractured bones

Misdiagnosis of injuries to internal organs

If you receive a misdiagnosis it can result in you receiving treatment that can have harmful or fatal consequences. This can also lead to you being prescribed incorrect drugs. Cancer misdiagnosis claims are becoming more common with patients undergoing unnecessary surgery and suffering needless trauma. This can have tragic consequences, and the chances of successfully treating the cancer are often reduced. The most common mistakes that lead to a delay in diagnosing cancer are:

  • Failure to monitor patients with a family history of cancer
  • Failure to properly examine a patient
  • Failure to investigate symptoms that would suggest a concern about the existence of cancer
  • Failure to recognise the symptoms and signs of cancer
  • Ignoring or misinterpreting laboratory test results
  • Failure to refer a patient to an appropriate specialist as quickly as possible

If you feel you have been the victim of a misdiagnosis or failure to diagnose correctly please contact Malcomson Law by phoning 01 87 444 22 or by filling out an online enquiry form and a client care executive will contact you.

All our client care executives are non-lawyers with a considerable track record of helping people through the many difficult issues that arise during the processing of a medical negligence claim. They will also organise an appointment with an experienced medical negligence solicitor.
