Medical Misadventure Inquests

Inquests are particularly important where the next of kin of the deceased believe that medical negligence on the part of medical staff contributed to or was the cause of the person's death. The coroner will investigate all the facts leading up to death and highlight any factors the he or she believes contributed to the death, including medical treatment prior to death.

If the death occurred in a hospital, medical staff responsible for treatment of the deceased will be called to give evidence in person or by providing a written statement. In circumstances where a hospital is involved they will have legal representation particularly if there is the possibility that hospital policies and procedures will be challenged.

Medical negligence claims as a consequence of death through medical misadventure are extremely complicated. It is important that you have a solicitor represent you at the inquest and if you decide to pursue your right for compensation through the courts.

At Malcomson Law we have a dedicated medical negligence team led by the Managing Partner, Raymond Bradley. If you require advice in relation to a fatal road traffice accident or representation at the Coroner's Court please phone us at 01 8744 422. You can also fill in our online enquiry form and a Client Care Executive will call you back.
