Patricia joined Malcomson Law in 2004.  She specialises in medical negligence and health law litigation.  She has extensive experience representing clients in personal injury, defective medicines and medical device claims. Patricia currently leads the team representing claimants with defective metal-on-metal hip implants including those with defective DePuy hip implants; Birmingham hip implants and other Metal-on-Metal implants 

Patricia worked for a Canadian medical malpractice law firm; Pacific Medical Law. She was part of a team that provided representation to patients and their families who had been affected by birth injuries, surgical errors, misdiagnosis and medical malpractice.


Prior to practicing law, Patricia worked in Dublin, London and Melbourne as a qualified General, Theatre and Paediatric Nurse.  She understands the trauma and medical issues that our clients experience as a consequence of medical malpractice.  Her detailed knowledge of Paediatrics, Orthopedics and Surgery, gives her a unique insight into clients’ experiences and needs.


Patricia’s Medical Experience: 


Royal Free Hospital, London 

Patricia trained as a theatre nurse and worked in the areas of Orthopaedics; Liver Transplant; Ear; Nose; Throat and General Surgery.

National Hospital, Harcourt Street, Dublin 

Paediatric Nurse working with children suffering with many serious illness and disabilities, including Cerebral Palsy and Hemophilia.

Children's University Hospital, Temple Street, Dublin 

Paediatric & Theatre Nurse caring for children and working in General Paediatric Surgery.

Royal Children’s Hospital, Melbourne 

Theatre Nurse working in all areas of Paediatric Surgery.

St. Vincent’s Hospital, Melbourne 

Theatre Nurse specialising in Orthopaedics, working with hip and knee replacements, in addition to spinal fractures. Patricia  worked closely with Professor Peter Choong, Consultant Orthopaedic Surgen; Head of the Department of Surgery Universityof Melbourne at St. Vincent's hospital Melbourne and chair of the Bone and Soft Tissue Sarcoma Service at the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre. This surgery involved complex hip, knee and shoulder surgery including reconstruction surgery and complex hip revision operations.

Patricia was also involved with the Orthopaedic Team at St. Vincent's Hospital, Melbourne, in setting up the Ilizarov system, where an external fixator is used to treat a complex bone fracture.

Educational Qualifications

Patricia qualified as a solicitor in 2006. She holds an Honours Law Degree from the University of Cardiff. Patricia qualified as a General, Paediatric and Operating Room/Theatre nurse before studying law.
