Vioxx

Irish persons affected by Vioxx to sue in the United States

Many Irish people who were prescribed a drug, called Vioxx (also known as Ceoxx), which was used as a painkiller for conditions such as osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis, have instructed Malcomson Law to pursue their cases in the US courts.

In September 2004, the drug was withdrawn by its manufacturer, Merck, when medical studies linked Vioxx to a number of serious medical conditions, including serious cardiac and stroke related events.

Malcomson Law are pursuing claims on behalf of Irish citizens through the US courts, through a US law firm, Lieff Cabraser Heimann & Bernstein.

Class actions are not possible under Irish law, but it is possible under US law for Irish people to take or join class actions there.

Claiming compensation for medical or clinical negligence is a highly specialised area of the law and it is important that the solicitor dealing with such cases has specific experience.

The medico-legal team at Malcomson Law is one of the most experienced and respected in Ireland. We are proud of our reputation for being approachable and for providing a personal yet extremely effective legal service.

We have an impressive track record. Our managing partner, Raymond Bradley, is one of the most experienced specialist solicitors in this area in this country.

If you believe you, or any member of your family, were damaged by Vioxx, please contact any of our team in the Dublin or Carlow offices.
