Malcomson Law, Solicitors, originated in the heart of Carlow, opposite the court house at Court Place, Carlow.
The firm is well known as being one of Ireland's most innovative law firms, yet it has a heritage dating back to the 19th Century.
History of Malcomson Law
The firm was founded in 1858 in Carlow by Robert Malcomson, a member of a well-known Waterford family of tanners. The firm later became Malcomson & Law when Robert K Law joined. The title remained long after the original founders had retired.
The firm amalgamated with solicitor Frank Lanigan's firm in Carlow in 1984, and became Frank Lanigan, Malcomson & Law. It is a well-known and successful firm in the Carlow area, with thriving commercial, family law and property divisions.
Subsequently Raymond Bradley opened the Dublin office of the firm, under the title Malcomson Law, in Smithfield in 1996. The firm was established in Dublin to undertake litigation work.
As the firm expanded the name Malcomson Law was adapted to encompass both the Carlow and Dublin offices.
