About Us
Malcomson Law is one of Ireland's most modern law firms, yet it has a long history in Ireland.
History of Malcomson Law
The firm was founded in 1858 in Carlow by Robert Malcomson, a member of a well-known Waterford family of tanners. The firm later became Malcomson & Law when Robert K Law joined. The title remained long after the original founders had retired.
The firm Malcomson & Law amalgamated with solicitor Frank Lanigan's firm in Carlow in 1984, and became Frank Lanigan, Malcomson & Law. It is a well-known and successful firm in the Carlow area, with thriving commercial, family law and property divisions.
In 1996, solicitor Raymond Bradley opened the Dublin office of the firm, in Smithfield, adopting the title Malcomson Law, to represent members of the Irish Haemophilia Society. This move formed the origins of the specialist health law division now based in its Smithfield offices close to Dublin's Four Courts.
As the work of the Dublin office expanded, the firm decided to give both offices one name: Malcomson Law.
