Compensation Schemes
There are a number of Compensation Schemes in operation in Ireland to compensate people who were wronged by the State. Malcomson Law have extensive experience in bringing cases to Compensation Tribunals and were involved in the establishment and setting up of some of these schemes.
Compensation Schemes in operation
The schemes that are currently in operation are:
- Hepatitis C and HIV Compensation Tribunal, which provides compensation to those who were infected with Hepatitis C and/or HIV from contaminated blood products provided to them by the State
- Residential Institutions Redress Board, which provides compensation to those who were abused in state run institutions
- The Lourdes Hospital Redress Scheme, which compensates victims of the wrongful practices of Dr Michael Neary
- Nursing Home Repayment Scheme
There is also a Garda Compensation Scheme for members of An Garda Siochana who are injured as a result of their work as a Garda.
